On this day in music history…

In 1985, Billy Ocean topped the singles chart with “Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run),” the lead single for his Suddenly album. The song had first been released as “European Queen” in Europe, but it didn’t gain any traction. In an attempt to appeal to people in a different part of the world, an “African Queen” version was also released in Africa.

In 1990, Bob Dylan returned to SIU Arena in Carbondale, Illinois, having last played there 12 years earlier. The audience had trouble seeing Dylan’s face during the concert because of the oversized hat he was wearing. Dylan performed for 2 and a half hours. Wire Train was the opening act.
