Officers were called to the 1900 block of West Adams Street yesterday after a homeowner reported three people trying to break into a vehicle. The suspects took off, leaving behind a stolen truck that was later returned to its owner.

A K-9 unit tracked them to a home on West Monroe Street, but no arrests were made. Since then, police say several more burglary reports have come in.

Herrin Police are urging residents to lock their homes and vehicles, and avoid leaving valuables in their cars. Anyone with surveillance footage or information is asked to contact the Herrin Police Department at 618-942-4132.
