On this day in music history…

In 1986, after having left Pink Floyd the previous year, Roger Waters filed suit against the band in London. The purpose of the suit was to dissolve Pink Floyd; Waters said that Pink Floyd was “a spent force creatively.” Around the same time, David Gilmour and Nick Mason began working on Floyd’s first album without Waters, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, inviting Richard Wright back into the fold. Ultimately, the suit lasted two years, and Waters ended up with the rights to the concept of The Wall while Pink Floyd continued without him.

In 1998, Kiss kicked off their Psycho Circus World Tour, supporting their album of the same name. This was Kiss’s last complete tour to feature the original lineup of the band. The tour started at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, and for that date only, The Smashing Pumpkins were the opening act.
