On this day in music history…

In 1987, Def Leppard performed for a crowd of about 5,300 people at SIU Arena in Carbondale. Def Leppard hadn’t been on the road in four years, and this was their first time on tour since drummer Rick Allen’s 1984 car accident, which resulted in the amputation of his left arm. The group had released their Hysteria album in August, and it was charting at number 5 at the time of the concert. Tesla was the opening act.

In 2000, Lenny Kravitz released his Greatest Hits album. One of the 15 tracks was previously unreleased; “Again,” which was put out as a single for the album, went on to be another hit for Kravitz, peaking at number 4 on the singles chart.
