On this day in music history…

In 2014, Weezer released their ninth studio album, Everything Will Be Alright in the End. The album marked the second and final return of Cars guitarist Ric Ocasek in the producer role. Ocasek had also produced Weezer’s first and third albums. Everything Will Be Alright in the End went on to chart at number 5, making it Weezer’s seventh top 10 album in a row.

In 2016, Desert Trip kicked off at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The festival happened over two back-to-back weekends, and both weekends featured the same lineup of talent. The lineup consisted of The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan & His Band, Paul McCartney, Neil Young + Promise of the Real, Roger Waters, and The Who. The artists played for capacity crowds each night, and the festival made over $160 million at the box office.
