One person is dead after a drowning at Pinckneyville City Lake over the weekend.

Police say a 36-year-old man launched his boat early Saturday morning when it drifted into open water. That’s when 35-year-old Jedidiah Loman of Bluford tried swimming from the ramp toward the boat.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene. A dive team later recovered Loman’s body in about 13 feet of water.
