On this day in music history…
In 1989, Soundgarden released their second album, Louder Than Love. This was the band’s major label debut, and the first major label album to come from any of the four Seattle-based bands commonly known as the Big Four of Grunge. In the next two years, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana would all release major label albums as well.
In 2018, Fleetwood Mac debuted their new lineup in a live performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Lindsey Buckingham had been dismissed from the band five months earlier. Joining the group after Buckingham’s departure were two accomplished musicians: Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn. Fleetwood Mac played two songs on Ellen: “The Chain” and “Gypsy.” A month later, the band embarked on their first tour with Campbell and Finn in the lineup.
