On this day in music history…

In 1965, the members of The Who went shopping for a German shepherd. They were looking for a dog that would be able to guard their van when they weren’t in it, especially since they were having issues with the van’s locks. When they got back to their parking spot after dog shopping, their van wasn’t there. The van and all of the equipment inside it had been stolen while they were shopping for a guard dog.

In 1976, after over a year of climbing the albums chart, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album hit number 1. Before Rumours topped the chart, Peter Frampton’s Frampton Comes Alive! had occupied the number 1 spot. Frampton Comes Alive! returned to the top spot the following week.
