On this day in music history…
In 1987, the Emile Ardolino film Dirty Dancing was released. Starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, the movie was a success, earning positive reviews from critics. The Dirty Dancing soundtrack was successful in its own right, topping the albums chart and producing three top five hits.
In 2012, Lynyrd Skynyrd released their 14th studio album, Last of a Dyin’ Breed. Gary Rossington was the only original member to play on the album, and it would be his final studio album with Skynyrd. The album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200.
