Herman’s Music Minute for August 18th

On this day in music history…

In 1969, the Woodstock Music & Art Fair came to an end. Jimi Hendrix was the final artist to play the legendary event, and the set included his famous psychedelic rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Organizers hadn’t originally expected the massive turnout that made Woodstock a national news story. About 400,000 people attended the festival.

In 1986, Bon Jovi released their third studio album, Slippery When Wet. The album was a huge success, topping the albums chart and producing three top 10 singles, two of which peaked at number 1. By the end of the year, Slippery When Wet was certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA.
