On this day in music history…

In 2003, the Molson Canadian Rocks for Toronto benefit concert took place at Downsview Park in Toronto. Toronto had suffered a series of SARS outbreaks earlier that year, which negatively impacted the city’s economy, particularly with regards to tourism. The Rolling Stones suggested a benefit concert to help revive the ailing economy, and the Stones themselves took the headlining slot. The lineup also included AC/DC, Rush, The Guess Who, The Isley Brothers, Dan Aykroyd & Jim Belushi, and more.

In 2011, U2 wrapped up their 360° Tour with a performance at Magnetic Hill Concert Site in Moncton, Canada. By the tour’s end, U2 had played a total of 110 sold-out concerts in 30 countries. The 360° Tour grossed over 736 million dollars, making it the highest-grossing tour ever at the time.
