On this day in music history…
In 1973, “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” by Jim Croce hit number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the second single from Croce’s Life and Times album, which was his last album to be released in his lifetime. Two months after “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” topped the chart, Croce was killed in a plane crash at the age of 30.
In 1990, former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters performed The Wall in Berlin, eight months after the takedown of the Berlin Wall. Numerous special guests were featured throughout the concert, including Scorpions, Cyndi Lauper, The Band, Bryan Adams, Paul Carrack, Van Morrison, Thomas Dolby, and others. Waters went on to release The Wall — Live in Berlin as a live album and a concert film.
