Benton Consolidated High School announced the hire of Tyler Leffler to the position of head baseball coach on Thursday night.
Leffler is a Benton native who went on to stay at Bradley and played in Low A ball in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in 2016.
He was an all-state quarterback for the Rangers in high school as well as a two-time All-South performer on the baseball diamond as both a shortstop and pitcher. He was named The Southern Illinoisan’s Baseball Player of the Year in 2012.
Leffler played shortstop at Bradley where he is 3rd all-time in doubles (55) and at-bats (728). He is 2nd all-time in Braves history for a player hit by a pitch (55) and tied for second for career sac flies (15).
The Rangers went 9-21 this past season and 1-8 in the SIRR Mississippi Division.
