WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – One person is dead after an officer involved shooting in Williamson County.

Just before 10am June 6, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a male suspect had forced entry into a residence in the 23000 block of Drake Road.  The suspect fled into the woods after being confronted by the female occupant.

A search by deputies and a K9 led them several hundred yards through the woods to another residence on Pleasant Valley Road.

Deputies located the male who had made unlawful entry into a second residence.

The suspect brought out a firearm and pointed it toward multiple deputies, a deputy then shot the suspect. The male suspect was pronounced deceased on scene.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
