Crab Orchard alum and former Johnston City softball coach Gerry Glasco, as well as his daughter and Johnston City alum Tara Archibald, and his Texas Tech softball team got started in the Women’ College World Series on Thursday night.

Led by the arm of ace pitcher NiJaree Canady, the Red Raiders shutout Ole Miss 1-0 to claim their first ever Women’s College World Series victory.  Canady tossed a complete game.  She only gave up two hits and struck out 10.

The lone run in the game came on an error in the 4th inning.

Next up for Glasco, Archibald, and the Red Raiders is UCLA on Saturday night as they advance in to the Winner’s Bracket of the double elimination portion of the tournament.
