On this day in music history…

–In 1987, The Doobie Brothers played the third of 12 reunion dates benefitting the Vietnam Veterans Aid Foundation. The show took place at the Hollywood Bowl, and it resulted in the fastest sell-out of the amphitheater since The Beatles had played there in the mid ‘60s. The band performed with an expanded lineup that included 12 alumni of The Doobie Brothers. The success of these reunion shows started talks of a permanent reunion, and a couple years later, The Doobie Brothers released their Cycles album and went back on tour.

–In 2010, the third season finale of then-future president Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice aired. Poison frontman Bret Michaels won the season, raising money for the American Diabetes Association. A total of 9.3 million viewers tuned in for the episode.
