On this day in music history…

–In 1995, Don Henley married Sharon Summerall, a model who he’d met about two years earlier through a contact in the music business. The guest list for the wedding was star-studded. Attendees included David Crosby, Jimmy Buffett, Randy Newman, Eagles bandmates Glenn Frey, Don Felder, Joe Walsh, and Timothy B. Schmit, and others. Several friends of Henley also performed at the wedding, such as Sting, Jackson Browne, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Bruce Hornsby, John Fogerty, Tony Bennett, and more. Henley and Summerall are still married today, and have three children.

–In 1997, Foo Fighters released their second studio album, titled The Colour and the Shape. This was the first Foo Fighters album to feature an actual band; the debut album was recorded almost entirely by frontman Dave Grohl. The Colour and the Shape received positive reviews from critics and peaked at number 10 on the chart. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards the following year.
