WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency has confirmed an EF-4 tornado hit the county May 16 with 190mph winds. The tornado was just 10mph away from EF-5 status.
The preliminary damage assessment reports they have 77 total impacted homes.
The EMA has confirmed a disaster declaration will be filed with the county clerk’s office today, May 19.
The Sheriff’s Office says the overnight curfew will remain in place and continue through May 20. That curfew restricts access and travel within one mile of the affected area. It will be enforced between the hours of midnight and 6am.
