On this day in music history…

— In 1975, at the El Paso County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas, Fleetwood Mac kicked off their tour in support of their second self-titled album.  This was the band’s first concert with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks in the lineup.

–In 1982, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Ebony and Ivory,” a duet written by McCartney.  McCartney and Wonder had recorded the song at producer George Martin’s studios in Montserrat for McCartney’s Tug of War album.  The single stayed in the top spot for seven weeks.

 

–In 2022, The Who performed in Cincinnati, Ohio for the first time since 1979, when eleven fans died after the crowd rushed the gates upon hearing the band’s soundcheck.
