(WJPF) – A southern Illinois woman is facing over 100 charges for the cruelty of animals.
A large number of dogs in poor conditions were located at the closed Reidland Veterinary Clinic after an investigation by the McCracken County Sheriff’s office was launched last week.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies found 124 dogs inside the building. Many areas of the building had no ventilation, electricity, or temperature control. Most of the dogs were kept on carpet and were surrounded by feces and urine.
66 year old Suzanne Alt from Woodlawn, rented the building and was already under investigation in Illinois with the same animals.
Alt was cited with 111 counts of Inhumane Treatment of Animals.
The investigation remains ongoing.
