FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – A woman is dead after a traffic crash in Franklin County.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Route 37 and Ewing Road.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says that Angela Byrley, 54, was driving south on Route 37 when she slammed into the back of a tractor trailer that was stopped in the road to make a turn.

Good Samaritans pulled Byrley out of the burning wreck, but she died of her injuries at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
