Warmer than usual March for much of southern Illinois

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – March was warmer than usual for southern Illinois.

The National Weather Service reports that March 2024 was the 12th warmest March on record in Carbondale with an average temperature of 52.3 degrees Fahrenheit- nearly 6 degrees above normal.

On March 30th and 31st, Carbondale experienced the warmest days of the month with an 80 degree high. The coldest day in March was the 19th, with a low of 24 degrees.
