Suicidal person talked down from Carbondale rooftop

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Carbondale Police say their officers succussfully talked a suicidal person down from a roof top ledge.

Police were called to the 200 block of West Main Street around 3:00 a.m. Monday.  They say officers found a person in the middle of a mental health crisis sitting on the edge of a roof, threatening to jump.

Carbondale Police officers talked with the person until the fire department arrived and used a ladder truck to get the person down safely.  They were then taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
