Creal Springs Man faces Muiltiple Charges for a Countywide Theft Investigation

CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. (WJPF) – A Creal Springs man faces multiple charges for a countywide theft investigation.

On February 24th, Herrin police responded to a report of a UTV parked at Snow Power. Police had previously been looking for a suspect driving a UTV in connection to theft and stolen gasoline in Energy.

When officers arrived, the UTV fled, driving through parking lots, down Park Avenue, and through residential yards. Utilizing video and photos, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify the suspect as Jordan Lewis of Creal Springs.

Deputies received information a few days later that Lewis had been selling stolen property.

With the help of aerial surveillance on locations of interest in Creal Springs and Hurst, police were able to locate the UTV at a residence in Creal Springs.

Police responded to the residence where they found Lewis. He admitted to being the suspect driving the UTV in Herrin and also the suspect involved in the Energy gas theft.

A search warrant was obtained and resulted in the discovery of a double barreled sawed off shotgun, a dirt bike that Lewis stated was stolen, and learned the UTV Lewis had been driving was previously reported stolen.

Lewis faces charges of Possession Of Stolen Property, Possession Of Burglary Tools, Criminal Damage to State Supported Property, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon By A Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Theft, Driving While License Revoked, and Operating an ATV on Roadway.

Lewis was transported to and remains in the Williamson County Jail. Additional suspects and charges are expected.
