CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing Wednesday in Carbondale.

Carbondale Police say they were called to the 900 block of East Park Street around 12:10 a.m. Arriving at the scene, officers found a person who had been stabbed multiple times.  The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

At about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Cody Simon, 21, of Carbondale, was arrested at a home in the 700 block of South Wall Street on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Police say the violence was not random; a personal dispute led to the stabbing.
