HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – A Williamson County man was arrested on drug charges, hours after he was hit by a vehicle while riding a bike.

At about 6:40 p.m. Saturday, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says Jonathan Fox was wearing dark colored clothing while riding a bicycle without the necessary lighting on Stotlar Road, east of Herrin, when he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Police say after the crash, Fox sat down beside a tree and emptied several items out of a backpack he was carrying. Police later retrieved those items and say they found multiple hypodermic syringes as well as prescription pills and methamphetamine hidden inside of a flashlight.

After being treated at a local hospital for what police describe as moderate injuries, Jonathan Fox was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
