HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – Firefighters in Herrin successfully rescued a family’s pet snake.

According to the Herrin Fire Department, Nagini, a 6 foot long Boa Constrictor, slithered into a hard to reach side panel of a kitchen cabinet.  The snake’s owners called the fire department after about 12 hours of trying unsuccessfully to get the snake out themselves.

Wednesday morning, firefighters disassembled the cabinet and freed the snake.
