JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people received minor injuries in a house fire in Johnston City.

Firefighters were called to the home on West 5th Street around 6:50 a.m. Tuesday and found two occupants trapped inside. Firefighters broke a bedroom window to get them to safety. The occupants were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but declined to go to the hospital.

The home is considered a total loss.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
