CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Police in Carbondale say one person has been arrested after a robbery, foot chase, and shooting in a shopping center parking lot.

Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a person was robbed in the parking lot of the University Place shopping center, located in the 1200 block of east Main Street on the north side of Route 13.  A friend of the person who was robbed took off after the thief, chasing them through multiple stores.  The chase ended in a parking lot near Chili’s where the friend pulled out a pistol and fired at the thief.

No one got hurt and police reported no property damage. One person was taken into custody. Their name has not been released.
