CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – For the first time since 2014, enrollment at SIU Carbondale has increased.

11,359 students have signed up for classes – an increase of 252 over last fall. With the latest enrollment numbers, university pfficials say they’re now on track to hit their current goal of having 15,000 students enrolled by the end of the decade.

Freshman enrollment increased for the fourth consecutive year, coming in at 1,621.  Overall undergraduate students from the region increased by 7.2% over last year to 754.  International student enrollment increased 6.5% to 853 students.
