Arrests for multiple charges in Carbondale

CARBONDALE Ill. (WJPF) – Police made two arrests and are searching for a third suspect after a traffic violation in Carbondale.

Last Friday around 11:30 pm, police stopped a vehicle on East Main Street. 

When the vehicle stopped, three individuals fled on foot.

The first suspect was recognized as a 17 year old male known to be wanted on a Jackson County Juvenile Warrant for a weapons offense and an IL Department of Corrections parole violation warrant.

He was located and arrested with charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting a Peace Officer in addition to the other  two warrants.

The second suspect, 20 year old Robert Martin of Herrin, was located and arrested with charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting a Peace Officer and a Saline County Warrant for Aggravated Domestic Battery.

The third suspect has not been located.

Officers also recovered two firearms during the investigation.
