Carbondale Police make arrest in connection to Friday afternoon stabbing

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – Carbondale Police have made an arrest in connection to a Friday afternoon stabbing.

Carbondale Police say Phillipe Mignon, 21, arranged to meet another person, whom he had met through social media, to buy or sell an item.  The pair met around 12:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South Poplar Street.  During the transaction, Mignon hit and stabbed the victim.  They were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover

Phillipe Mignon was arrested a few hours later at a home in Makanda.  He faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery in a public place.
