A tragedy in Franklin County over the weekend.

West Frankfort Police reported the drowning of 3-year-old Wesley Yocum.

W.F. Chief of Police John Prudent says Yocum went missing from his residence shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to the residence, spoke with the parents of the missing juvenile and began searching the area.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m., the toddler was located in a neighbor’s swimming pool. He was taken to Franklin County in Benton, where he was later pronounced deceased.
