A man has been issued citations for Aggravated Assault in Marion

MARION, Ill. (WJPF) – A man has been issued citations for Aggravated Assault in Marion.

On Tuesday June 13th,  the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Stanley Lane, in regards to a report of a disturbance.

Officers were told the suspect, Jordan Travelstead, was destroying a residence and swinging a baseball bat at a family member.

Upon arrival, Travelstead appeared holding a 12” ball peen hammer and when approached, yelled and threatened the officers.

After being ordered multiple times to stop and drop the hammer, officers deployed a taser causing him to release the hammer and fall to the floor.

Travelstead has been issued citations for Aggravated Assault and Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer.

He was transported and remains in custody in the Williamson County Jail
