Juvenile arrested and released pending review for the theft of a motor vehicle in Carbondale

A juvenile was arrested and released after the theft of a motor vehicle in Carbondale.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of East Main Street on Thursday February 2nd around 7:45pm regarding a report of a stolen vehicle.

Officers learned the suspect stole the vehicle from the parking lot. It was later located unoccupied on the 1100 block of East College Street. 

The investigation led officers to identifying a 15 year old male as the suspect. He fled on foot but was quickly arrested. The suspect was also in possession of property related to other theft investigations.

The juvenile was arrested on charges of  Motor Vehicle Theft, Burglary to Motor Vehicle, Possession of Another Person’s Credit Card and Resisting a Peace Officer.

He has been released to a family member pending a review of the case by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
