Illinois State Police ID man killed in officer-involved shooting

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Illinois State Police have identified the man shot and killed Wednesday by a Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to ISP, 47-year-old Jeremy Fowler of Carbondale was armed with a gun, pointed that gun at law enforcement and refused commands to put the weapon down. Fowler was shot by police and died at the scene.

The incident on Devil’s Fork Road is still under investigation.
