CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – The City of Carbondale is receiving more money from the federal government for the construction of a downtown multi-modal transportation center.

After the additional $4.3 million from the US Dept. of Transportation announced Wednesday, total grant funding for the project is now at $21 million, which according to the city’s website, should cover nearly all of the construction expense.

The project is set to begin in the summer of 2023 and be finished by the summer of 2024.
