Burglary Investigation in Carbondale

On 02-14-22 at 10:15 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 1100 block of North Illinois Avenue in reference to a report of a burglary and damage at a storage facility.  

The next day at 11:17 a.m., officers met with the victim who discovered property taken in the theft was at a local pawn shop.   

During the course of the investigation, officers identified Jeremy S. Lyles, 43 of Carbondale, and Michael S. Williams, 29 of Carbondale, as the suspects.  Officers located and arrested Williams for Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property and Lyles for Possession of Stolen Property.  

Williams and Lyles were incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  A search warrant was granted as a result of the investigation and additional property was recovered.  Additional charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
