Pilot injured in plane crash at Southern Illinois airport

 

JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – The pilot of a small plane was hurt Saturday when their aircraft crashed at the Southern Illinois Airport in Jackson County.

Authorities say at about 6:00 p.m., the single engine airplane hit power lines while attempting to land. The crash knocked out power to a large portion of the Murphysboro and Carbondale area.

The pilot was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The F-A-A will investigate the crash.
