One arrested after Carbondale shooting

 

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — One person was arrested after a shooting Wedneday in Carbondale.

It happened at about 10:45 a.m. in the 500 block of West College Street.

Carbondale Police say Julius Kitt, 22, of Carbondale, shot at an acquaintance, missing his intended target, but hitting an occupied building nearby. No injuries were reported. Police say the violence was not random and Julius Kitt knew the man he was shooting at. Police later recovered the gun used by Kitt, which turned out to be stolen.

Julius Kitt was charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Aggravated Discharge of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Resisting a Peace Officer, and No FOID card.

Kitt was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
