Store clerk opens fire on alleged thief’s get away vehicle

 

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (WJPF) — After a shoplifting incident in Cape Girardeau, two people were arrested, including the store clerk.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at the Cape Plaza shopping center on William Street.

Police say the alleged thief stole merchandise from a business then tried to drove away. The store clerk followed the alleged thief into the parking lot and fired three shots at the their vehicle. The alleged-thief got out of the parking lot, but was arrested a short time later.

The store clerk was arrested for firing a handgun in a crowded parking lot. Prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible charges.
