SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WJPF) — The Illinois Department of Public Health says 19,244 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Illinois last week, including 209 additional deaths. 

69% of Illinois residents have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose and 54% are fully vaccinated.

As of October 7, 1,653 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 412 patients were in the ICU and 209 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from October 1-7, 2021 is 2.1%.  The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from October 1-7, 2021 is 2.6%.
