COVID-19 cases up in southern Illinois; record set in Jackson County

 

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) — A new single-day record for COVID-19 cases has been set in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Health Department reported 115 new cases Wednesday. The old daily record was 87 cases set back in November of 2020.

Cases of COVID-19 are up all around the region. A total of 422 new cases were reported in southern Illinois Wednesday with one death, a female resident of Williamson County.

The region’s test positivity rate is up to 9.7%.
