MURPHYSBORO, IL. – At their council meeting Tuesday night, Murphysboro city leaders decided who would replace the outgoing fire and police chiefs.

Firefighter Steven McBride will take over when Chief Steve Swafford retires later this year. Lt. Michael Laughland will became interim Police Chief when Chad Roberts leaves town to take another law enforcement job in Wisconsin.
